ULTIMUM® is Virbac’s Latest long-acting horse wormer and boticide gel which contains the active ingredients moxidectin and praziquantel.

WHAT IS ULTIMUM®?

• A broad spectrum and long-acting horse wormer and boticide gel which contains the active ingredients moxidectin and praziquantel.
• Broad spectrum. Ultimum is indicated for the control of tapeworm and all important susceptible strains of gastrointestinal roundworms, including adult and encysted stages (DL, LL3, EL4) and benzimidazole-resistant strains of small strongyles, and aids in control of early encysted stages (EL3), including inhibited larvae.
• When used as directed, Ultimum is safe in foals over 4 weeks of age and in all breeding stock, including stallions and pregnant mares.

• TIMELY
  ULTIMUM® is recommended for horses with a suspected large burden of encysted small strongyles (roundworms) typically in late Autumn or early Spring.  It is also recommended for new horses arriving on a property with an unknown worming history.
• TARGETED
  ULTIMUM® is the ideal wormer for young and adult horses with a suspected large burden of encysted small strongyles (roundworms). It can be used to target horses identified as high shedders based on a diagnostic approach to worming.

When administered as part of Virbac’s Gold Standard strategic worming program, ULTIMUM provides horses effective and sustainable worm control in conjunction with EQUIMAX®, EQUIMAX ELEVATION® and STRATEGY-T®. The Egg Reappearance Period (ERP) for ULTIMUM is at least 14 weeks, which means that recontamination of the pasture by strongyle eggs is significantly reduced during this period. It is important to note that resistance may develop to any chemical.

RECOMMENDED FOR

• Yearling to Adult Horses: ULTIMUM may be recommended for horses with a suspected large burden of encysted small strongyle larvae.
• High Shedders: Treatment with ULTIMUM may be recommended for horses with repeated high faecal egg counts and suspected large burden of small strongyles.
• Quarantined / New Horses: ULTIMUM is recommended for new horses arriving on a property with an unknown worming history. Horses that are below 2 years of age should be given 2 separate worming products i.e. ULTIMUM and STRATEGY-T®, but for horses over 2 years of age treat with ULTIMUM or as recommended by your veterinarian.

COMPOSITION

• Moxidectin 20mg/mL
• Praziquantel 125mg/mL

DOSAGE & DIRECTIONS FOR USE

• ULTIMUM Long-Acting Horse Wormer and Boticide Gel is administered orally (into the mouth) at a dose rate of 0.4 mg/kg Moxidectin and 2.5 mg/kg Praziquantel

Accurately determine the weight of the horse to be treated (if a scale is not available, use a weight tape) and be sure to adjust the syringe to the correct dose for the horse.
